The North Carolina Harp Ensemble, founded in 2010, is directed by Jacquelyn Bartlett, Professor of Harp at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. Our mission is to provide professional harp ensemble instruction to professional, advanced, intermediate, and beginning harpists of all ages throughout North Carolina, allowing them to benefit from participating and performing with an ensemble, which is an essential component to any musician's training.
There are numerous benefits to participating in an ensemble, which include:
•
Reinforcing technique, rhythm, and musical concepts learned in private lessons.
•
Valuable ear training as each member tries to listen to all of the parts simultaneously.
•
Skills learned through ensemble playing lead to better solo performances.
•
Performing in an ensemble helps take the pressure off the individual, which is a great
way to ease into public performance.
•
It's an easy way for harpists to make friends and meet other harpists!
